Why choose a cat sitter?
-
Territory, territory, territory
Cats are carnivores who thrive in the territory they establish. Your home is their territory where they are guaranteed food, water and love. Leaving them at home enables them to continue feeling safe and secure.
-
Cats prefer company
Contrary to popular belief, cats are not loners. They want and enjoy human companionship. Our two cats are most happy when Allen and I are sitting on the couch reading a book or watching a good movie. They each have their spot on the couch between us to be close to both of us. Having a trusted pet sitter visit your own cats when you are away keeps them happy with that human touch.
-
Anxiety
Many cats become extremely anxious when shifted into a carrier and then moved to a new location. All the catnip in the world will not lessen the anxiety of this experience. Our cat Otis will perform the most incredible feats of escape in order to avoid the dreaded “box”. It takes careful planning of military precision to get him to a vet visit. Your cat may not be as wiley as Otis, but they still feel the anxiety leaving home is bound to create.

Timing is everything
Cats thrive when they have a regular schedule. Earl knows when it is 7:00 am and he can leave the house. He returns almost the same time each day for breakfast. At about 5:00 pm he knows to come home for the evening. Leaving cats at home ensures their regular schedules can be maintained to a greater degree than having them moved to another venue.

Safety first
A home visit in general means your home is safer while you are away. Plants get watered, mail and newspapers are collected, and appliances are checked. Home insurance requires vacant homes to be checked on a regular basis.
